The Mobility, Aging, Pain and Disparities (MAPD) study is investigating factors that can effect older Black and White men's health.

Primary Qualifications

You may qualify to participate in this study if you have lower back pain and are:

  • A black or white male
  • 60 years and older
  • Physically able to use a computer
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English

What is involved?

This study will involve a single visit approximately two hours in length to the Jacksonville Aging Studies Center (JAX-ASCENT). At the study visit, you will complete questionnaires about your health and quality of life on an iPad and then you will perform three physical performance tests that evaluate your balance and movement. The study visit will conclude with a brief questionnaire asking about your comfort level with different technologies.
