This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Smartphone-linked versus standard home blood pressure monitoring cuffs for helping patients with uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) achieve lower blood pressure.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Age ≥ 18 years
  • At least one ambulatory visit at UFHealth during the past year
  • SBP > 145 mmHg at most recent clinic visit
  • A self-reported commitment to “work on lowering your blood pressure by 10 points or more to reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke”
  • Owns a Smartphone (Android or iOS)
  • Nobody in household currently owns a HBPM
  • Willing to receive text messages from the study
  • Can read/write English well enough to use English-based Smartphone apps and fill out online surveys in English

If you participate:

  • We will provide a home blood pressure monitor to you at no cost
  • We will ask you to:
    • Take blood pressure at home and share your blood pressure readings with your doctor
    • Fill out simple surveys about your blood pressure treatment and experience with your blood pressure monitor over the course of 6-18 months.

All study activities will be completed through a secure study website.
