Clinical Research Details Clinical Research Comparing the effects of conventional oxygen versus heated high-flow oxygen on suction frequency in patients with tracheostomy Study Description We aim to compare two types of humidification during trach weaning trials- conventional oxygen therapy delivery (cool mist aerosol trach collar mask (ATC)) and heated high-flow oxygen (HHFOT) via trach interface adapter to determine if one is more effective than the other in reducing need for airway suction. Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria Inclusion Criteria 18 years of age or older Have a percutaneous or open tracheostomy placement by the acute care surgery service and require ongoing mechanical ventilation support Are followed by the acute care surgery and/or neuro-critical service Exclusion Criteria Severe trauma of the face or neck that causes obstruction of the airway Diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disease Cervical spinal cord injury who require diaphragmatic pacer Open Enrollment Contact Name: Jennifer MullContact Phone: (904) 244-7988Contact Email: jennifer.mull@jax.ufl.edu Investigators Firas G.
