UF JAX Paraesophageal Hernia Outcomes Data Bank

Study Description

This is a longitudinal cohort study to better understand the specific factors that are associated with surgical outcome measures as well as Quality of Life following Hiatal/ Paraesophageal hernia surgery. It will contain data extracted from the Electronic Health Record. The goal is to improve the understanding of the factors that affect outcome and quality of life in patients undergoing this procedure.

Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria

Inclusion:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Work up for a Hiatal/ Paraesophageal hernia repair at UF Health Jacksonville by a surgeon in the division of general surgery
  • Speaks english or spanish

Exclusion:

  • Under 18 years old
  • Emergency Hiatal/ Paraesophageal repair
  • Vulnerable populations (i.e incarcerated)
  • Unwilling or unable to provide consent
