Specialized Care that Meets the Needs of Medically Complex Children

Taking care of the most fragile and medically vulnerable in our community.

That’s the role of the Bower Lyman Center for Medically Complex Children at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville. A patient directly benefiting from the critical care delivered by this team of experts is Maverick McCann. Maverick has been diagnosed with Cri du chat syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, in addition to 35 medical diagnoses. This requires specialized, coordinated care. Care that led Jacqueline Rich, Maverick’s mother, to relocate to Florida for the high-quality care delivered at the Medically Complex Clinic.

Unlike general family medicine clinics, our center has the staff, resources and expertise to meet the needs of children like Maverick. Our doctors and medical experts are sought after by families and patients across the southeast region. Described as a “family outside of a family,” we don’t care for the patient alone but the entire family unit by offering invaluable support.
