A new 10-week faculty development course will explore the possibilities of artificial intelligence, or AI, in medical education. Frid-AI Vibes, launching on March 28, will be available to all University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville faculty members who have enrolled. The course aims to enhance the teaching and learning experience by familiarizing faculty with AI tools approved by the University as resources.
Every Friday, enrolled faculty will receive short instructional videos on specific topics ranging from integrating standards-level questions to generating educational support materials.
Jessica O’Leary, PhD, assistant director of the CREATORS program and Frid-AI Vibes organizer, will lead these instructional videos along with her team of faculty champions.
Meet the Frid-AI Vibes Champions
“Frid-AI Vibes addresses common academic, educational or administrative tasks that create a task burden on our clinician educators,” O’Leary said. “Our goal is to equip those faculty with resources that can save time and improve the execution of daily tasks.”
Faculty interest in AI has substantially increased over the last year. Following a well-attended session with Dr. Karim Hanna from the University of South Florida on the future of AI in medical education last spring, O’Leary and her team saw an opportunity to further engage faculty across the UF Medical Education spectrum.
“Frid-AI Vibes will continue to expand faculty knowledge in tools like UF’s AI chatbot NaviGator Chat. We are setting the stage and introducing teaching faculty how to integrate AI resources into their instruction and administrative processes,” O’Leary said.
