Emergency medicine faculty recipients of 2022 ACEP Teaching Awards

Petra Duran-Gehring, MD, and Alexandria Mannix, MD, have been recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians as outstanding educators who demonstrate superior clinical teaching. Since its founding in 1968, ACEP has strived to educate and train physicians to provide the best emergency care in hospitals across the nation.

Duran-Gehring and Mannix are recipients of this year’s National Emergency Medicine Faculty and Junior Faculty Teaching Awards. Both physicians are assistant professors for the department of emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

Duran-Gehring received the National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award. She has been at the College of Medicine – Jacksonville since 2004. Duran-Gehring also serves as the medical director of the emergency medicine ultrasound fellowship program. Her expertise in emergency ultrasound education and research has garnered national recognition and she has given lectures across the country as well as received numerous teaching awards.  

Mannix received the National Emergency Medicine Junior Faculty Teaching Award. Mannix has been part of the College of Medicine – Jacksonville since 2017. In addition to her role as an assistant professor in the department of emergency medicine, she is also assistant program director for the emergency medicine residency.

“We are proud that two of our very talented faculty were recognized with such an honor,” said Stephen A. Godwin, MD, professor and chair of the department of emergency medicine. “It not only shows the high-quality care we give as part of an academic medical center but the high-quality education and training our residents and fellows receive from our outstanding faculty.”
