New leader takes over key positions for the UF College of Medicine and UF Jacksonville Physicians

Pradeep V. Kadambi, MD, MBA, has been named senior associate dean for clinical affairs of the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville and president and CEO of the University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, effective Oct. 2, 2017.

Kadambi comes to Jacksonville from the University of Arizona, where he was medical director of solid organ transplantation, overseeing all transplant programs at the university. A professor of medicine, Kadambi served as the chief clinical affairs officer of the Banner -  University Medical Group, the physician leader of a medical group of more than 600 physicians which was created from a partnership between University of Arizona and Banner Health. He previously served as chief of nephrology.

“Dr. Kadambi has a wealth of experience as a physician and administrator, and the University of Florida and UF Health Jacksonville are fortunate to bring him aboard to help us solidify our role as caregivers in this community,” said Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, MHSA, dean of the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville. “Our organization has been blessed in the past to have great administrative leadership, and we expect Pradeep to continue that tradition.”

Prior to his work in Arizona, Kadambi was medical director of the kidney and pancreas transplant program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston from 2011 to 2014. He was also an associate professor of medicine at the school. Kadambi’s career has taken him to the University of Chicago (2001-2011), where he received his training in transplant nephrology and served as the director of the Nephrology Physician Directed Practice.

“The opportunity to work for one of the great universities in the country, the University of Florida, and to be part of a health care organization as well-renowned as UF Health Jacksonville, is tremendously exciting,” said Kadambi. “I am looking forward to becoming a part of the amazing team Dr. Haley is putting together, and becoming part of the community of Jacksonville. I can’t wait to get started.”

Kadambi received a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery from the Bangalore Medical College in India, and a master of business administration from the Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. He completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus in New Haven, Connecticut.
