UF College of Nursing-Jacksonville celebrates 30 year anniversary

Dr. Alice Poe also reaches a milestone

The University of Florida College of Nursing Jacksonville celebrates 30 years of nursing education in Jacksonville, Fla. A tribute was held on May 4, 2010 at the Epping Forest Yacht club, with many past and present UF College of Nursing Jacksonville faculty, administration and graduates on hand to show their support and appreciation.

The ceremony opened with remarks from Kathleen Ann Long, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of the University of Florida College of Nursing. David S. Guzick, M.D. PhD, senior vice president for UF Health Affairs and President, UF & Shands Health System, along with Robert C. Nuss, M.D., associate vice president for UF health affairs and dean, UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville provided special remarks to honor the occasion.

Today the UF College of Nursing Jacksonville campus offers the same graduate programs that the Gainesville campus offers to its students. It is also home to the college's Nurse Midwifery Program, one of the top-rated programs in the country. The evening festivities also celebrated the accomplished career of associate professor and coordinator of the Nurse Midwifery Program, Alice Poe, DSN, CNM, ARNP, who will retire after 17 distinguished years at UF.
