The Executive Committee of the UF College of Medicine–Jacksonville recently recognized James McLamb, M.D., for three decades of distinguished service to the University of Florida in a special resolution presented at its September meeting.

Until his retirement in August, Dr. McLamb served as senior vice president for planning and development and associate professor of community health and family medicine. He joined the UF faculty in 1986 as associate professor and associate chairman of community health and family medicine, and was granted tenure in 1991. He served as senior vice president for planning and development for Shands Jacksonville and UF Health Science Center-Jacksonville; as chairman of the Planning and Development Committee of Shands Jacksonville and University of Florida Jacksonville Healthcare, Incorporated; and as a member of the SJ/UFJHI Managed Care.

Dr. McLamb also was instrumental in establishing the University of Florida Primary Care Physicians Advisory Board and served as medical director of the University of Florida Primary Care Network.

"Dr. McLamb worked diligently to create the UF&Shands satellite system and to develop a formal planning and development process for Shands Jacksonville and UF that has become a model for joint organizational healthcare planning," said Robert C. Nuss, M.D., dean of the regional campus and Jacksonville associate vice president for health affairs.

"The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville recognizes his accomplishments, dedication, and leadership and conveys to him sincere gratitude for his many contributions made to the University of Florida," Nuss said.
