Senior Associate Dean’s Welcome Frank J. Genuardi, M.D., M.P.H. Welcome and thank you for your interest in the medical student education programs at the University of Florida College of Medicine — Jacksonville Regional Medical Campus, the largest of the three colleges at the UF Health Science Center — Jacksonville, which spans more than 10 city blocks. Our faculty, residents and fellows are proud to participate in the education of future physicians. We provide an excellent broad-based clinical experience at our major teaching hospital, UF Health Jacksonville, the region’s premier academic medical center, a busy 715-bed hospital in the urban core of the city that includes a Level I pediatric and adult trauma center, a state-of-the-art facility in North Jacksonville, as well as UF Health sites throughout the community. Applicants who are accepted through the admissions process of the University of Florida College of Medicine will complete their first two-years of course work in Gainesville and then transition to the Jacksonville Regional Medical Campus for their third- and fourth-year clerkships and electives. They will participate in rotations throughout the city of Jacksonville that will provide an immersive, hands-on experience across a full complement of medical specialties, with students learning alongside more than 450 UF residents and fellows, under the supervision of more than 450 UF teaching faculty. They will also have the opportunity to participate in research, community outreach, and other educational and service activities. In addition, core clerkship rotations in all the major disciplines are provided for our medical and physician assistant students from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Elective rotations in the final year of clinical training are available to medical students from all LCME and COCA accredited schools, as well as affiliated non-LCME/COCA schools.
