Herschel L. Douglas, M.D. held multiple academic titles from Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Medicine at Shands Jacksonville, formerly Jacksonville Health Education Programs, Inc., to Medical Director of UF Family Medicine Center at Lem Turner. He retired under Emeritus status in the department of community health & family medicine in 2000.

The Herschel L. Douglas, M.D. Memorial Fund supports the use of technology to disseminate relevant educational sessions to more than 80 offsite physicians working in Northeast Florida locations.
