Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Assess patients for risk of HIV acquisition and identify good
candidates for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis as well as
contraindications
2. Discuss the risks and benefits of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis with patients
3. Complete work-up and screening for patients prior to initiating HIV
pre-exposure prophylaxis
4. Select an appropriate regimen to prescribe for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis
5. Practice appropriate follow-up for patients who are taking
antiretrovirals for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis
6. Identify candidates for HIV post-exposure prophylaxis
7. Select an appropriate regimen to prescribe for HIV post-exposure prophylaxis
8. Practice appropriate monitoring for patients following exposure to HIV
