Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
Hosted by PEPSA, CARD-Jacksonville and FDLRS-MDC. Research has shown that early diagnosis often leads to better outcomes, yet many adolescents and adults with ASD report being overlooked or misdiagnosed in their younger years due to the complex nature of the condition. This is especially true for females. Although opportunities for ASD supports and services have improved, there is still a need for equitable and timely screening and comprehensive assessment to provide appropriate interventions. This session will explore pathways to ASD identification across clinical and educational settings and offer solutions to current challenges for parents, practitioners and the general public.
Additional Information
Participants will explore pathways to identify autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with special considerations for diagnostic classification and the female phenotype; will recognize best practices in conducting comprehensive and multidisciplinary evaluations across clinical and educational settings, including an exploration of standardized assessment instruments, and will learn to identify current resources and materials designed to assist in integrating evaluation data and developing recommendations for evidence-based programming and interventions.
