Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
Target Audience: Therapists, therapy assistants, educators, related service providers, and interventionists working with students who struggle with sensory processing.
This workshop provides a basic understanding of sensory processing/sensory integration and its impact on emotional regulation, behavior, and sensory-motor skills, as well as indicators for need, sensory rooms, and sensory strategies.

* Define Ayres Sensory Integration (SI) therapy and describe its theoretical foundations and impact on occupational performance.
* Explain the purpose of SI therapy, including its role in improving the brain’s ability to process and respond to sensory information effectively.
* Identify key indicators for SI therapy, including sensory modulation disorders, sensory discrimination challenges, and praxis difficulties, to determine when intervention is necessary.
* Understand the components of a sensory room, including essential equipment, environmental considerations, and implementation strategies for structured and unstructured sensory experiences.
* Develop strategies for incorporating SI principles into various environments, such as schools, clinics, and homes, to improve participation and engagement for children with sensory processing challenges.
