Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
Hosted by the UF Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics PAIP program. The PEERS program initiative is designed to enhance the social skills and interpersonal relationships of individuals, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or other social challenges. This evidence-based program offers a structured and comprehensive curriculum to improve social functioning among adolescents and young adults. The PEERS Program focuses on teaching essential social skills through a variety of engaging and interactive methods. Participants learn vital skills such as making and maintaining friendships, conversational skills, handling peer conflict, and navigating social challenges. The program will consist of 16-week sessions, with weekly group sessions for participants and separate concurrent sessions for parents. This session will begin on April 10th, 2024 and run until June 26th, 2024 at a cost of $1000 for both adult & social coach. Interested participants will need to complete the application by 2/16/2024. After applications are reviewed, interviews will be begin 2/26/2024 to ensure participants display qualities of readiness and dedication to the program. It is important to note that the 12-week commitment is for both participant and parent.
