Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:

• Evaluate the latest clinical trial data supporting the non-inferiority of shortened antibiotic durations for bacteremia, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections.
• Distinguish between clinical scenarios where "shorter is better" and high-risk infections that still necessitate prolonged therapy
• Apply evidence-based criteria for clinical stability to determine the optimal timing for an early "IV-to-Oral" switch and the safe discontinuation of therapy in the hospital setting.
• Analyze the relationship between antibiotic duration and unwanted or unintended consequences.
