Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Discuss early education and management of functional constipation in primary care settings.
2. Recognize factors that contribute to unnecessary hospital admission for constipation in otherwise healthy children.
3. Examine economic and psychosocial impacts from constipation hospital admission.
4. Identify the evidence-based criteria for admission of constipation.
5. Recognize when and how to escalate treatment of functional constipation.
