Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:

1. Differentiate between clinical situations necessitating a lumbar puncture (LP) in febrile infants.
2. Identify the low-risk criteria applicable to institutions with and without procalcitonin testing capabilities.
3. Examine provider, patient, and procedural variables linked to obtaining interpretable cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within our healthcare system.
Explain technological advancements that could enhance the acquisition of interpretable CSF samples.
