The American College of Physicians has selected Elisa Sottile, MD, to serve on its Education Committee for 2025-2026.
A faculty member at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville since 1997, Sottile’s contributions have advanced medicine with her work earning institutional and national recognition. She currently serves as an associate professor in the department of medicine and the assistant dean for medical education in the Office of Educational Affairs. She also holds roles as associate program director and clerkship director for the internal medicine residency.
“I am deeply honored to join the American College of Physicians (ACP) Education Committee,” Sottile said. “This role is a significant milestone in my career, allowing me to contribute to the development and dissemination of educational strategies that enhance the learning experiences of practicing physicians, residents, and students. Personally, it is a rewarding way to expand my commitment to medical education and fuel my passion for fostering professional growth among medical learners. Professionally, it aligns with my ongoing efforts to improve the quality and value of health care education.”
Arshag Mooradian, MD, professor and chair of the department of medicine says Sottile is exceptional as a leader in health care and medical education.
“This appointment was the result of Dr. Sottile’s superb leadership and active participation in education of future physicians and other health care providers both locally at the University of Florida and nationally,” said Mooradian. “This is the most recent major honor that Dr. Sottile received in the last two years, including her election as the Governor of the Florida chapter of the American College of Physicians.”
