Upon completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:

At the conclusion of this session, the participant should be able to:
1. Discuss the history of Child Protective Services and of child maltreatment as a diagnosis.
2. Discuss the basic epidemiology of child maltreatment.
3. Cite the clinical “red flags” for child abuse.
4. Review the AAP guidelines for evaluation of child maltreatment and the evidence to support them.
5. Cite what is being done locally to improve the detection and evaluation of child maltreatment.
