Brett J. Murray, MD was born and raised in South Florida, making him a true native Floridian. His eagerness to help others inspired him to willingly postpone his academic plans in order to voluntarily serve a self-funded two year mission in Norway. He became fluent in the Norwegian language while living and working amongst the people. Upon his return, he played college football for the private university that awarded him a full academic scholarship to begin his medical studies.
Dr. Murray’s innate desire to aid those in need, combined with a unique patience and compassion for children, led to his pursuit of pediatrics. He received his medical degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. Specific interests in his field include newborn colic, as well as depression, weight management, and sports medicine in children and adolescents. Dr. Murray is excited to be an integral part of the UF medical health team that trained and afforded him the opportunity to continue nurturing those within the community. He finds relationships formed with families during the healing process extremely rewarding.
In his leisure time, Dr. Murray enjoys participating in various sports, scuba diving, and learning about dinosaurs. Outside of his career, he most treasures time spent with his cherished wife and two young sons.
