Edgar Alvarez, M.D., is an associate professor with the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville and the medical director at UF Health Family Medicine – Augustine Oaks. Dr. Alvarez completed his family medicine residency at the University of Florida in 1994. He started his career in Colombia and has held several instructor positions and the title of medical director before joining UF Health in 2012. He is board-certified with the American Board of Family Practice and holds membership in the American Academy of Family Practice and the American Society of Nursing Home Directors. He speaks English, Spanish and Japanese. In his spare time, Dr. Alvarez enjoys computing, photography, tennis and soccer.
