Due to Hurricane Irma, the UF Jacksonville leadership has decided that all UF and UF Health Jacksonville outpatient clinics will be closed on Monday, Sept. 11. Only needed essential UF personnel should report for work. We ask UF clinical and core service personnel to check with their supervisors as to whether they should report to work on Monday and provide support to the academic health center for emergency operations. At this time, UF Jacksonville is scheduled to resume normal operations on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
What you should do now:
- Ensure your hurricane plan is ready and plan for your family and personal responsibilities during the potential storm.
- Review the checklists and resources for Duval and surrounding counties on the Bridge →Employee Services→ Emergency Preparedness→ Country Disaster Guides on the left hand side.
As with any weather situation, all employees are urged to access local news outlets and check your ‘Everyone Emails’ for up-to-date information.

The University of Florida’s main campus in Gainesville will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 10, and Monday, Sept. 11. Similar to Jacksonville, all decisions about closing clinics or limiting clinical functions in Gainesville are made at the COM and hospital senior leadership level, in consultation with University and local Emergency Management officials. Clinical practice activities in Gainesville may remain open even when the main university closes its student or academic functions. That means that a UF decision to close the campus for classes does not necessarily mean that UFP Gainesville will close clinics for visits or that UF Health Shands in Gainesville will limit any clinical activities.
