Miren A. Schinco, M.D., a University of Florida College Of Medicine – Jacksonville associate professor in the department of surgery, was appointed as the medical director of the Multi-specialty Critical Care Service on July 1, 2010.
This new concept joins together the critical care professionals and the intensive care units of Medicine and Surgery in a single coordinated structure. This will provide for enhancements in standardization of equipment and protocols, coordination of performance improvement efforts, and better patient outcomes. Resource utilization, bed availability, and coordination of education and research will also be improved as the new multi-specialty team forms under Dr. Schinco’s leadership.
