UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville to offer two new fellowship programs

The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville has started two new fellowship programs. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education granted accreditation to the Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship and the Pulmonary/ Critical Care Medicine Fellowship programs, with an effective date of July 1, 2008.

The Electrophysiology program will be directed by Steve Hsu, M.D., a UF assistant professor of medicine and medical director of the electrophysiology program. This is a one-year training program that will appoint two fellows. James Cury, M.D., a UF associate professor of medicine and division chief of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine, will oversee the Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine program. This three-year program will appoint six fellows.

Constance Haan, M.D., senior associate dean for education affairs, said the new fellowship programs will be great assets to the campus.

“We are pleased to be providing subspecialty training in these areas of high demand,” said Haan. “Dr. Hsu and Dr. Cury, along with their faculty colleagues, are proud to have successfully achieved program accreditation, and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to graduate medical education on our campus.”
