Leading breast disease experts will discuss the latest information on breast cancer at a free public forum, “What Everyone Should Know About Breast Health,” slated for 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Jacksonville Marriott.
The event precedes the 13th Annual Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Disease, the University of Florida’s scientific meeting of international breast disease experts. Forum attendees will have the opportunity to ask the experts questions about breast cancer diagnosis, monitoring and treatment. Dinner will be provided, and reservations are required.
Forum panelists include Rachel Brem, M.D., of the George Washington University Medical Center; Kevin Hughes, M.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital; Krystyna Kiel, M.D., of Northwestern University; Marc Lippman, M.D., of the University of Miami; David Winchester, M.D., of Northwestern University; and forum and symposium founder, Shahla Masood, interim chair of the UF Department of Pathology at Shands Jacksonville.
Forum sponsors include the American Cancer Society, BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, Shands Jacksonville, Precision Imaging Centers and UF.
The Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Disease runs from Feb. 14-17. Sponsored by the UF College of Medicine-Jacksonville, the program offers five sessions, with topics ranging from diagnosis to contemporary issues in breast care.
“The symposium is designed to provide a panoramic overview of the latest scientific information surrounding breast disease,” Masood said. “Twenty-one experts in breast surgery, radiation, oncology and pathology from 21 universities and six research facilities in the United States and Europe will be featured at the continuing education program.”
