Seven UF Jacksonville faculty members have earned the College of Medicine’s prestigious “Exemplary Teacher” title, which acknowledges exemplary educators on both the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses.
Initiated by the dean’s office in 2003, the Exemplary Teachers program recognizes up to 5 percent of the COM’s outstanding teachers. Such recognition is based partly upon evaluations by at least 10 learners (i.e. graduate students, medical students or residents). A peer review of candidates’ submitted materials is used in the final selection.
Selected teachers, recognized each spring at the Medical Education banquet held during Medical Education Week, each receive a plaque, medallion and pin, as well as an educational/reference text. The Exemplary Teachers also participate in the COM graduation ceremony.
